The Colosseum is one of the most popular
landmarks in the world. It is in the centre of
Rome, in Italy, and it is one of the largest
amphitheatres ever built
Its construction began between 70 and 72 AD
and finished in 80 AD. People went there to
watch interesting events like gladiator games,
animal hunts and plays
Today the Colosseum looks different because
of earthquakes and stone thieves. However, it
is a very important landmark in modern Italy
and attracts thousands of tourists every year
